Collection of Two Poems of Different Truths – Poetic Twins Side by Side
1. AIR – A Collection of Two Poems
There lived a little boy, in ecstasy spoke his eyes,
As he walked, feet grazing the earth,
In rapture, would flowers bloom,
The river would whisper in wonder,
Accompanied by the song of a happy bird,
The sun would smile shining a gentle light.
He dipped his tiny hand in the water,
The fish gathered around,
He laughed in wonder.
Yet, as time ran its ceaseless tide,
He grew older and wiser,
The hands changed, quicker they became,
Yet he walked in wonder, despite the change.
They would call out to him,
Often would he miss the serenity.
Though now a man of the world,
He would still find his soul,
His true heaven, etched in that eternal haven;
The air would remind him, the flowers would sigh.
He would walk again, though his steps heavier,
His heart lighter now with a little life,
Grasping his strong hand, as they explored.
The sun shone on, hope blossomed in the air,
Sadness tinged the earth,
Someday his breath would melt,
Yet filled with immeasurable love,
His spirit would remain,
In the air.
2. THE CAGED BIRD – A Collection of Two Poems
I don’t understand men,
Are they good or unkind?
Some set me free-
And some bind me behind.
An animal I am in their eyes;
My life for their lust-
Doubtless death when I flail.
They have mixed voices,
The stronger ones crush mine.
I am simply a pretty bird,
A short-lived feather in the black sky.
They will consume and redden everything.
The more they lie, the louder and sweeter they speak:
Till I begin to believe every word they say;
No longer must the true five senses work,
To guide the true voice that is mine.
Their senses numbed long ago….
My comrades are killed every day,
I survive for I entertain.
Man and animal so alike—
In primal instinct of stealth and greed.
A young girl gazes at me in wonder,
Forgetting her plight awhile,
As I sit prettily on the master’s lap,
Watching her mother weep.
They will all be beheaded soon
For trying to flee.
