Two Poems – The One, Forever

1. The One
At first I felt nothing,
when I saw you walk by,
a nervous smile on your face,
You looked helpless and shy
It slowly turned into an attraction,
the day I saw your rosy lips.
When your eyes first met mine,
And at the slight curve of your hips
When it developed into a crush,
I decided to make my move fast,
So we finally started off as friends,
Holding back nothing of the past
We called our affair ‘Meaningless’
Though I knew that was far from true,
I am not sure what you felt for me,
But I was falling in love with you.
Now as I stand at your door,
Thinking about all I’ve spoken,
The blood quickly rushes to my head,
With the fear of leaving, heart broken
When I see your eyes fill with tears,
I find your hand and hold on tight,
And as you wrap your arms around me,
I realize that we’re going to be alright.
2. Forever
At the melody of wedding bells,
I feel my heart beat fast
Doubts begin to poison my mind,
No guarantee this will last
A nervous glance into the mirror,
One last check before I hurry,
A peek at the crowd below,
Does nothing to ease my worry
The bouquet doesn’t help my shaky hands,
As I make my way down the aisle
I see you handsomely dressed in black,
And I can’t help but smile
You pull me close and you whisper,
That you can’t wait for our lives to start,
Your love captures my soul,
And sets fire to my hopeful heart
In the future, when we’re too old to walk,
And our grandson is beginning to crawl,
I shall turn to you and smile and say,
We proved true love exists, after all
