English Poem – Birthday: An analysis

Life is a collection of days. It starts with a day and ends on another. The funny thing is, irrespective of what happens in between, birth and death are the ones which stand permanent.
There are days which we always remember. Some which we never wished to see. Few which made us who we are. Then there are those which taught us how to live a day. But there is one special day that’s almost synonymous to beginning, to family and of course, to life. Year after year, we try to re-live the day we started this wonderful journey of life, calling it our Birthday.
“A day repeats itself like any other day,
You love to call it your birthday.
Loaded with the heap of presents,
It’s a day with surprising contents.
Refreshing the lost reminders,
It’s also a day to think about remainders
As the years get tougher,
A few grow up, some just get bigger.
No matter how much throughout we strive,
The essence of birthday stays alive.
Inattentive of the cake’s share,
It’s after all a day to cherish care.
To sum it all,
A day’s memory stays for the long haul.
A symbol of specialty in its own way,
About which you have lots to say.
Celebrations just become part of your life in reel,
The real joy lies in the feel.
Birthday is nothing to put on display,
It’s in fact a day that silently honors you as
‘A king for a Day’ ”
A day can have special significance in someone’s life. The significance of the day becomes a treasured beauty when it connects us to the world both within and beyond.
Life is a small affair. Very soon it gets lost in current affairs. The best we can do is celebrate life, celebrate each day, celebrate birth. In short, make someone’s day special by saying two lively words :
‘Happy Birthday’
