I woke up one morning and saw a bright light,
Leaving behind the shadow and despondence of the night.
I heard the blazing hammer and the ringing bells,
‘It’s revolution time’- a man yells.
I gazed from my window to see the street,
To watch people cheering with the drum beat.
A beggar shouted at me and said,
‘Now I will get my daily bread.’
I saw birds chirping on the tree,
Yes, the time has come; I shall be free.
No one on the street was too smart
And no one too poor to die,
The crowd overpowered all barriers
On the earth, beneath the blue sky.
There will be no religion, no borders on the land,
There will be no separation; all will walk hand-in-hand.
Wars will come to an end, violence will cease,
After this revolution there will be a subtle peace.
Rough hands will become smooth,
Leaving behind the ageing, its time of the youth.
The sound of music will be spread,
That beggar will get his daily bread.
Corrupt bureaucrats are not needed, I agree.
When they will go, I shall be free.
A time is coming when greed will be suppressed by care,
A feeling of unity and love will spread everywhere.
People will live for the present,
This revolution will bring a complete change.
Women and children will walk around without fear,
If caught in danger, they will find somebody near,
Who will come forward with a helping hand;
The country will be a crimeless democratic land.
The kings in their castles will sit and see
The people they oppressed so long shall be free.
I heard another voice which said,
‘It’s morning already, get up from bed.’
It was my mother’s; she pulled up my cover,
I realized that my early morning dream was over.
