Poem – Time Of Dying

Running away from everything
In a closet we hide
My heart beating faster and yours perfectly still
You are in the dark
Gunshot fires, the world outside is ablaze
Outside these barred doors
We left our lives
To spend a last few moments unshared
Every second making it harder for us breathe
The smoke from the lies choking the atmosphere
The dirt, the filth
The base of life’s very existence
The horror deems all still
Even tears for once shall not fall
The pain in these veins
Will not go to waste
I grasp for air; you give it to me
The grip on your hand tightens and the pain in me stings
You just cradle my head in your lap
For you know not what has become of me
For in a few moments, all will be over
This breath will be still
The heart completely silent
And the blood will cease to flow
They take names, they yell for it
And are taking mine, followed by yours
Calling out to us, they will engulf
Us into their void of tragedies
The walls begin to crumble
The ground begins to shake
All there is left is you and I
And a few more minutes of happiness
The world outside screams for blood
And they shall have mine too
Underneath these covers
I have their bullet in me
You realize this; all too late
The light is fading
“Leave you shall not. I won’t let you”
You say to me as I dissolve slowly
“Leave you shall not. Our love won’t let you!
And die without me, I shall never have you away,
For now I take your life and cast one into me
And now together, forever we’re meant to be.”
Deep down in a closet,
All was left was white noise
While the world was dying
We held together and you gave yourself to me
