Two Poems about Nature
1. A Life Gone By…
The vast expanse of sand stretching miles and miles,
with some pebbles scattered here and there,
half broken sand castles mingled with shells,
an image of some forgotten child in smiles..
With lush green patches here and there ,
Oh, was that a palm tree or a mirage?
Sometimes the blue of water sparkling with life,
Was it an oasis inviting welcome and life?
Flocks of birds squabbling above the ground,
fighting for their morsel on the brown ground ,
was it the desert or the sea ?
for there was blue with all hues and brown with its frown.
Lo! with the sand and the water trickling through the fingers,
didn’t matter desert or the sea,
neither didn’t wait to be held and cherished,
For it was a life gone by…
2. Winter Bright!
Pearls of dew shining bright on tiny buds,
Myriad of greens stretching over land,
the butterfly bursting from the chrysalis ,
amongst the chirping and the tweeting,
heralding the spring of life , of being.
The little creature dancing to the tunes of the wind,
taking her way with its zephyer ,
playing with her curls and whistling in her ears ,
trying to capture the beams of sun ,
announcing her life and happy.
The beautiful lass looked past gurgling river,
shading her eyes from slew of dust,
ignoring the eclectic colors of petals and wings,
but the blob of brown went far and away,
not looking back into the waiting eyes.
Chill in the being brought the autumn of world,
making a sheet of orange and brown for the earth,
acorns and nuts been stored for later and then,
Fall was in the air, chirps around hurrying,
making the most of the precious sunshine.
Last of the leaves was snatched by the cold,
leaving the trees a barren soul,
The lass was no longer beauty of the eye,
but in her eyes were still the memories of colors and smile,
for her it was the winter brights, though it was her life gone by.
