“Daddyyyyy!!” I screamed standing on the road.
Daddy who came out running, popped out his eyes. His jaws lowered. Mom stood startled beside daddy.
Pulling out a sheet of cover I exclaimed “Happy Birthday daddy!!”
Dad remained like a statue unable to believe what he is seeing. I loved this pose of daddy. It actually satisfied me.
And there stood a pure white Santro car shining bright on the wide black road.
Awestruck daddy came running from the first floor with great joy and wonder in his eyes along with mom.
“Is it for daddy? His Birthday gift?” enquired mom sliding her hand along the body of the car
“It’s my love for both of you. How is it daddy? Did you like it?” I asked daddy with extreme anxiety.
“So good to see this gift honey. It is beyond my imagination that my little princess has worked so hard to startle me. Come let us all go for a ride together” said daddy opening the car door.
“No daddy. First let’s have a photo session” I giggled trying to pull out some papers from my pocket.
Mom dad sat inside the car and I was clicking their happy faces. Dad was delighting in the front seat holding the steering. Mom was adjusting her saree, hair and yea the necklace around her neck. It was another love I expressed on her last birthday. I almost stopped clicking when I saw them talk and laugh together. It has been so many days that I saw mom and daddy cherishing the moments like a young couple. They struggled throughout their life to see me happy. Now my turn has come to fill the rest of their life with more and more happiness. And then I remembered the papers in my pocket. I pulled them out and gave it to daddy.
Dad was like ‘Oh My God’ reading the content on the papers.
“This is unimaginable!!” exclaimed daddy gazing at the papers.
“What is it about?” asked mom peeping into the papers.
“These are tickets to..” said dad and I interrupted him
“Daddy, start the car and go. Don’t tell her. It is your turn now to surprise her” murmured I as I backed myself on to the ramp of the gate.
With an erotic look daddy started the car and drove swiftly and I stood waving back to mom and daddy.
As soon as I came up and entered my room I felt like ‘Yea I did it!! I actually did it!!’ I jumped on my bed like a rabbit, quickly opened my facebook and updated my status “Dad on Date!!” The next thought that has come to my mind is writing to a person about this dream which actually became real.
I opened my outlook and started running my fingers on the keyboard.
“Hi Brijesh
I hope you are doing well. The reason I am writing this mail is to tell you that the dream which I dreamt long has become true today. In fact this very moment. I hope you remember the evening when you dropped me and Ayyappan back to our homes from office.
And I asked you ‘Brijesh…How much does this car cost on road?’
‘According to Banglore road tax it costs around Rs. 3.5L’ you said.
‘I always dream about one thing Brijesh’
‘umhh what is that?’
‘That one day on which my dad takes my mom out in the car presented by me and my mom wearing the necklace that I have gifted. Half part is done. Last birthday of my mom, I presented her the necklace she always wanted. Second part is the tough part.’
‘Oh nice. You will do that one day’ you said and started talking about many cars and suggested me to go for Santro.
And the day has come!! It’s my dad’s birthday today and I presented him a white Santro!! Also I have sent my mom and daddy on a date to a resort!! Ah! It was so nice to see the freshness of their love again.
Well why I am writing this to you is, the first person I could think of to share my achievement of this dream is you. J
Regards,
Vani”
I sent the mail and closed the outlook. My facebook profile popped up with flooding notifications. I wondered from where on this earth people are commenting so many things. To my surprise all the notifications belong to my status. There were hundreds of likes and comments on my wall. Yea the status deserves it. After all its my ”Dad’s Date.”
