It was a bright sunny day and I was in my aunt’s place, since my aunt was out on some work I had no idea how to while away my time. So,I just stepped out and thinking of going out for a walk.
It was a beautifully fortified palace, with lush green gardens, well bloomed flowers of red, yellow, blue, lavender, orange, pink colours, grass cut in the form of 2 elephants on either sides were the first sight on opening the gate. As I stepped further ahead fountains, sprinklers, many more grass cut forms started to show up. This beauty along with the palace seemed like heaven on earth. I continued exploring the place that intrigued me. On feeling desperate to enter the palace, I slowly opened the huge carved doors to look after myself so as to not scream with excitement on looking at the fantastic. It did creakingly, but I was disappointed at the sight as it was just opposite to what I imagined it to be as well a stark contrast to the gardens.
Huge windows could allow enough amount of light to enter the palace and brighten it up was covered by thin curtains partially blocking the light. All I could see was shady darkness on things in the palace, cob webs too thickly woven, dust but one room caught my eye which was on the right hand side, slowly walking towards it,I saw bright light between the door and the floor. Hesitatingly opened it and on seeing a girl reading a book got surprised. She must have been around twelve to thirteen years of age , wearing a floral print frock, hair neatly done. the room looked like a part of the palace broken off as it had a open kitchen, wardrobe, book racks, etc.I was surprised at the condition. I was new to the place and I had heard my aunt talk of the family that lived in the palace died of an accident a few years back. But now I see a girl living, though I had no business to learn of this, but once in my childhood when I visited my aunt I fell in love with the palace and wanted to see it. Though, I was wrong trespassing, I was just out of utter desire to see, happened to visit.
Now I felt completely wrong and I spoke to the girl explaining and to ask her to pardon me. She turned with a sweet smile and a twinkle in her blue eyes told it was fine. I had a lot of questions to ask but I filtered it out and the first think that disturbed me was,why she was living as she was doing,so I asked about it and without any second thought she told that her father had asked her stay there while he was out and would be back, since he has not,my governess has made these arrangements. I was astoned and tried to explain her of her parents death and she didn’t seem any perturbed but to my shock I heard that she knew but since she had promised, she didn’t wish to move out.I felt very touched by the daughter’s love, respect for her father.
