Snighdha and Snehit were brothers and sisters, On 22nd June their parents wedding anniversary, was celeberated very grandly, their mother Rupa was very happy, because she had got a very costly, deLicate and a beautiful huge painting from her best friend. Rupa was very happy about it, because that made her living room look excellent, and attracted everyone who got into her house. She had warned both her children to be very careful, while passing around it; and not to scratch it, make it dirty, or ruin it in anyways.
She was so fond of it; that she used to stare at it atleast 10 times a day, and keep hovering around it. However, unfortunately it so happened that When Snehit was playing cricket with his friends, the ball broke the glass of the window, and it’s speed was so high; that it also broke the glass of the painting. Snehit was saddened; and frightened about the punishment, he would get from his mother. His sister was standing there, watching everything, but did not utter a word. He relieved a sigh, thinking that she would not complain.
When his mother asked who broke it? no one replied.
Snighda started blackmailing him; and made him do all the work, dishes, her homework, pulled his pocket money, and took advantage of him in all the ways she could. One day it so happened that Snighdha robbed money from her mothers purse; went to late night party, and blackamiled her brother not to inform any one about this, saying ” Remember the Painting costing lakhs, you will be more severely punished for that, may be not given food for days, or just kicked off the house, so better accept that you robbed; and I will make sure you stay in the house, and get food”. Snehit could not take it any longer, because he could never commit crimes like robbing.
He went to his mother and said ” Mom I broke the painting, but I am not a thief, please believe me”. His mother hugged him and said, ” I knew that my son, I had seen that, however I was quiet; because I wanted you to confess it, and also check; how long would you let the fear in you, blackmail you”?
He was surprised, to which his mother replied, “Yes my son, It wasn’t Snighdha who was blackmailing you, but the fear in you, To err is human, but the one who accepts it; is a true human being with good ethics, discipline and values and will never do wrong, or let any wrong happen, “SO DON’T LET THE FEAR IN YOU, BLACKMAIL YOU EVER”
She even hugged her daughter and said, If you use short cuts and wrong ways for your enjoyment and pleasure, you may gain happiness several times, but later on; you will surely suffer, because there will be people who will not take it for a long time, and, you may probably never be given a second opportunity again even if you want to do good”.
