Today’s story is about a boy called Salmaan and his little sister Imaan. Salmaan was a chubby five year old boy,who loved to eat, but most of all he LOVED sweets. The school term had just ended and with it being holidays and being a bit bored Salmaan felt the need to have something sweet and decided to ask his mother for money to buy some sweets.

Mother gave him the money and when he returned from the shop she asked, ‘How many sweets do you have Salmaan?’

‘One,two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine,…ten’he counted.’I have ten sweets’ said Salmaan happily.

‘Oh! That’s a lot of sweets’,said mother.’Do you mind sharing with your sister?’

Now Salmaan was not too happy about that after all he was the one who asked mom.

‘Mom’,he said,’if I give her some, then I’ll have less. I want to eat it all it’s my favourite!’.

‘Sharing is good Salmaan’ said mother.’And if you have all the sweets you might get toothache, which is not nice at all’.

Not paying heed to what mother was saying, Salmaan went outside to play and ate the sweets one by one, not giving any to his sister. Later that night when Salmaan went to bed, he was thinking about all the nice sweets he had and smiled.’Tomorrow I’ll buy me some more’ he thought.

Alas! when Salmaan woke up the next morning , he was crying. Mother ran to his room and asked ‘What’s the matter Salmaan? Did you have a bad dream?’

‘OW! OW! cried Salmaan. I have a toothache’.

‘Hmm…’ said mother.’How many sweets did you eat yesterday?’

‘Erm….I ate them all mother’.

‘Oh I see’, said mother ‘all that sugar in the sweets you ate has given you toothache. Maybe next time you should try sharing it,then you won’t have as much sugar’.

‘Oh mother, from now on I’ll ALWAYS share my sweets. I don’t EVER want to have toothache again.
