Kids Story – Man Missed the Chance to Get a Tail

It was the early stage of the world; when God had made all the animals, birds and man few days back. One day God was thinking very hard.
One Angel came to Him and asked, “Lord, what are you thinking?”
God said, “I am thinking that all the creatures that I have created on earth do not look fully complete. Probably they will look better if I give each of them a tail.”
“It is a brilliant idea, my Lord!” exclaimed the Angel.
“Then, go to the Earth and inform all the creatures to gather on the vast ground there. I am going to give them each a nice tail, according to their choice,” God ordered the Angel.
So the Angel flew down and called all the animals, birds and also the man, “Listen to me, God Almighty has decided to give you each a tail, which will make you look more beautiful. So gather in the vast ground today evening and wait for him.”
All the creatures were overjoyed and they started discussing how they would be looking with a tail!
All the animals, birds and reptiles gathered on the ground, even before the sunset. But the man thought, “How foolish all these creatures are, to gather on the ground so early! After all, God has made me as the most intelligent creature. So I will get the water from the spring and then come here at the right time.”
So the man went to the spring, which was very far away. He became very tired. After filling his pots with water, he sat down and decided to rest a bit, before starting off towards the ground. But as he was very tired, he quickly fell asleep.
Meanwhile, God arrived on the ground after sunset. He was pleased to see all His creations there, but no one noticed the absence of the man. Then He got out all the tails and called, “Now everyone to come up to me one by one and get your tail from me.”
First, the tiger went to Him and God gave him a long tail, with stripes matching to his body. “Yippee!! Everyone look at my tail, it’s so beautiful!”
Next, the lion went to God and got a nice long tail too, “Wow! My tail is matched to the color of my body!” he cried happily.
When rabbit went up to God, He told him, “Take this little white tail, that will match your furry little body.” The rabbit was very happy for it, “Thanks a lot my Lord!” he said.
After the rabbit, one by one, the fox, the cat, the rat and other animals and birds too received their tails and everyone was rejoicing in this occasion!
When the peacock went to God, He told him, “Since you love to dance, I am giving you a tail with colorful feathers, which will help you to dance more gracefully.”
Finally, God finished giving tails and went back to heaven, satisfied to see all His creations so happy. But when the man woke up from his sleep and came to the ground, he was shocked to see all the animals and birds with tails! “Where is God Almighty? I am yet to take a tail from Him!” he cried.
Everyone told him that God had gone back to heaven. He was crestfallen, “I lost the chance of getting a tail due to my own idleness! Now I will live apart from the others, else everyone will make fun of me!”
Thereafter, the man went out of the forest and started living separately, while other animals and birds lived together.
