Kids Bedtime Short Story – A Magical Dream

One fine evening, I was taking a stroll in the woods when I tripped over something. When I looked back to see what the thing I tripped over was, I was surprised to see a red gem with silver swirls on it. It was glowing and vibrating with bright hues. I picked it up and immediately, it grew warm in my hands and I felt stronger. I took the stone with me to my home but on the way back I saw a cave from which a faint light was radiating. I crept inside and was shocked to see a big throne made of stone and woods and on it was sitting a cloaked figure, fast asleep.

“Help! Help me please!”, I heard a faint voice and it seemed to be coming from behind the throne. I crept behind the throne and found a door. I opened it and was startled to see that there was a girl, dressed in rags and was badly hurt. I helped her up and took her to my cottage.

Once I reached home, I laid her down in the guest room and attended to her injuries. My mother made us some tea and she spent that night at our home. The next morning , I asked her questions and found out that she was the daughter of a wizard and her father’s enemy has kidnapped her! She  continued, “I need to go back. If that cruel man finds out that I have escaped, he will be furious and merciless.”.

“No Way!”, I replied, “we are gonna defeat him!”.

I fished the stone out of my pocket and showed it to her. Then she told me that it was her father’s magic stone.

After some persuading, we went to the cave and sure enough, the evil wizard was fuming with anger. After a long battle, I locked him up in the cell in which the girl had been trapped. Together, we got a big stone to block the entrance to the cave.

We ran back home and I sighed and flopped down my bed. “Hold on, I  didn’t get to ask you your name?”, I turned to the girl .

“My name is……”, she responded. Suddenly, everything went blank, and I found myself waking up in my Payjamas – I realized that this was only a dream. However, on my table lay the gem with a note that read – “My name is Nerissa”.
