Raja Mahavir was very happy that day and was waiting for his most clever prime minister Swapnil to arrive in the court. Raja thought of playing a fowl with Swapnil. Till date Swapnil could never be beaten in front of his wit and that day raja more than his expectation to see Swapnil’s loss, was waiting to see the wit which Swapnil would be applying to recover from the situation.
As and when Swapnil arrived, he bowed and took his seat. Immediately after, raja started addressing him and saying, “Swapnil, you immediately go to the changing room and get rid of the Sherwani you are currently wearing, wear something else which you own and then come back and hand over the Sherwani to me. I am sure that one is mine and after you follow all my orders, I would be knowing from you, when and how did you steal that.”
Swapnil understanding the raja’s trick immediately said, “Your honour, I am sorry, but I could prove, that this Sherwani is mine.”
Maharaja asked, “And how’s that?”
Swapnil said, “I have got the tailors make a special mark on all my clothes that they sew for me.”
Maharaja also is not about to let it go so easily. He said, “Me too have the same.”
Swapnil to this again said, “I dont disagree you, your honour. You could indeed have them make it for you as well. But I am sure you wont be having the same mark as the one I am making them have on my clothes.”
Maharaja said, “And what’s that so unique that you believe I could still not make and demand, after you let me know the same?”
Swapnil immediately secretly tore a piece of string from the pattern made by few bundles of string on his sherwani and told, “See Maharaj, this looks a very common thing that a string is coming out from a part of the cloth, but believe me, I intentionally make them do this. After preparing, I force them tear one string from bundles of string in a pattern. See this string coming out.”
Maharaja again was a bit shocked to this strange mark and asked him the reason for this particular mark only, when there could have been so many others that could have been made.
To this Swapnil said, “Maharaj, I know that a cloth of yours if have a string coming out of it, wont be seen on you at all. Again prices of clothes are tough to be guessed by their looks. So just to make this distinction clear only, between you and me, even in clothes, that I am always under you which I also believe from deep core of my heart, I do these.”
Maharaj became happy and awarded Swapnil.
