The Rooster Who Ran Away from Home..! – Kids Short Story
He was very regal, with neck craned high, and bright plumes of wonderful hues of red, violet, orange and yellow on his head. Everyone was in awe of him,with his height and body, and royal carriage . He was everyone’s envy! He got to give the orders around the house, when to wake up ,where to go and when to call it a day. He had earned that respect. The chicks who went around with him were envied too. For he was The Rooster. And he was proud of it. He used to stand high on the fence and give his call of the day “Cock-ka-doodle-doo..” His owner and his wife were proud of him too. He was the pride of their farm.
But one day the Rooster decided to quit. He was getting bored of the same routine. He needed a change. He didn’t want to wake up early in the morning. He wanted somebody else to wake him up! He was fed of his job. He didn’t want to eat worms and lizards anymore. He wanted junk food! More so he was bored of the hens!! they just went cluck-cluck-cluck the whole day, after him. He needed a change!
He stopped doing his job. He no longer stood on the fence and used to sulk about in the fields. His owner and his wife were surprised. The neighbors were surprised too.
“What happened to your Rooster?”, they asked.
They suggested getting another one for competition. The neighborhood dog told him to tread carefully.
“You don’t know what you are doing”, he said. “Life is difficult out here ,if you lose the favors which you were used to it”.
One day, the house cat came running to him.”I heard madam talking to the boss..She said”Lets eat him for dinner! Any ways , wake me up anymore and he doesn’t go near any of the chickens. Where do we get the eggs from?.,the cat said.
That’s when the Rooster decided ,he just had to go. He took the decision. He will run away from home! He didn’t want to end up on the dinner table!
So, the Rooster ran away. He went to the city where nobody expected him to wake anybody!
