“Did everybody complete their homework?” asked Miss Tell.
“Yes ma’am”, replied the class in a rather melodious voice.
“So, how was the topic I gave for the essay? Was it appealing?” asked Miss Tell.
“Wonderful, Mrs Tell… Writing on How Wonderful Our Earth Is! “Oh! We’re so gifted to have you as our teacher!” said Jolina.
“Butter is quite costly, Jolina dear. Don’t butter me so much!” replied Miss Tell with a bright smile.
Jolina’s face turned to a colour similar to pink roses.
“But I think that the topic was quite boring. I couldn’t find much about this topic.” said Joel looking at Jolina, as though he was very knowledgeable.
“So you mean that the Earth is not a nice place, Joel? Is it not wonderful?” asked Miss Tell, keeping very calm and with an inquisitive expression.
“Yes, it is not very exquisite” said Joel.
“Do you have the faintest idea of what are you speaking? You know, how come you are standing here?” said Miss Tell, still very tranquil.
There was some silence. But then, Joel replied, “I’m standing here because this is my school!”
“No..No..No! It is because of the existence of our mother Earth! She has given us so many things… Its existence is a boon for us. The pollution and garbage is not because of Earth. It is because of us!
Our Earth has so much weight and burden. Humans and animals have polluted the Earth in the name of technology. Even today some places have pure and pleasing, just because there are less living beings there. The food from there is organic and much closer to nature. The nature is so beautiful! The fragrance of the flowers, the wonderful animals.. All explains that our Earth is wonderful. It is us, Human beings who have made the Earth less beautiful. If there would have been no Earth, there would have been no life!” said Miss Tell.
Everyone was silent with their eyes open.
Joel broke the silence and began to clap.
“Oh, that was a really informative, Miss Tell. Now I understand what a wonderful place we have to live. I take back my words.” Said Joel.
“It’s ok, Joel. I understand that you being a child, didn’t know all this,” said Miss Tell.
“Anyway Jolly, give me your essay.” said Miss Tell.
“Here ma’am, I worked all night on it.” replied Jolly, passing a notebook to Miss Tell.
“Fabulous work, Jolly. Hey! You’ve also written a nice poem, too. Let me read it to the class..
We have a nice place to live,
It has lots of things to give.
Plants, friends, buildings, clocks,
Some animals like the Fox.
The wonderful beauty of the flowers,
Make our Earth so much better than Mars.
Many things, so nice and beautiful,
Our dear Earth is so wonderful!
The whole class burst into applause and cheered-
Our dear Earth is so wonderful!
