“Mohit Verma, High Secondary, Science, Result-85% PASSED.” A rhythm of joy rushed in the blood of my family as I read my result on the computer. My mother eventually tensed, was very happy and was so proud that she gave my father HE MADE IT type of look. My father on the other hand, thinking of me being failed in my exams was shocked rather than happy on his son’s unimaginable achievement. And as for my sister concerned, she screamed the news all over over the building and within a few minutes my house became a fish market with all over neighbors coming to congratulate me with their fake smile (OF COURSE).
Specially third floor Mrs Singh, whom my mother nicknamed as “Lady Naradmuni”. You understood it right. Even the parents of my competitors came to congratulate me. It was a moment where I felt like showing those studious guys with a puffed cheat, the current scenario of my house. Even Madhurima, Mrs Singh’s daughter and also the Aishwariya Rai of the building came to congratulate me, to whom for the last three years i didn’t had the guts to say a “hi”. But seeing her today I felt the phrase “sabra ka phal meetha hota hai” to be changed as “sabra ka phal meetha nahi madhurima hota hai.”
Daughter of the most hated family of the building, Madhurima was the only kohinoor for all the backbenchers of our building, even for me. As for our building, Adarsh Apartment, it is world famous for two things, first the fight for the post of the president for the soceity of the building between Mr Banerjee and Mr Singh(Madhurima’s father) as history has proved that bengalis and punjabis are the cats and dogs of the 21st century and second and the most importantly for its very adarshvadi IITians, whom i hate like anything as Madhurima prefer them for her studies and they, the lallus feel as they are the Tom Cruise of the building.
Even the girls in the IITian race looks like modern day Einstein whom asking for a date is like asking to prove the mass of the earth is equal to something in physics ahhh whatever. That’s why Madhurima is the only beautiful abstract between the class 1 drawings of the building.
