I want to write on why “past focus” is more important than “future focus”.
Companies that run on western philosophies (we call them MNCs!) seem to like the future more than past. However all our Indian philosophies were based mostly on past experiences than future possibilities! Simple example -Indian philosophies always and unanimously claimed “Greed is bad”. That was past. For the last 10 years we are hearing, “Greed is good as long as it is inclusive enough!”
I was caught in an excruciatingly painful traffic jam on a road running along the the banks of the Cauvery in Tamilnadu (Trichy-Musiri-Thottiyam), famous for bananas, during the last pooja holidays. I was returning back to Bangalore after worshiping most of the Hindu Gods! But there were nearly 50 lorries in front of me carrying sand to Bangalore on a road meant to carry small trucks of bananas! I could not find even one truck carrying bananas like I used to see just 10 yrs ago! And those sand trucks were damn slow. I was pissed off and no amount of continuing my praying to those very same Hindu Gods, helped clear the jam!
I thought of being “past focused” instead of “future focused”, at least by reporting this 4 weeks later than it happened!!!!
That’s all!
I hope these MNCs also think of ways when humans can survive on sand instead of bananas!
You know – future focus!
