Short Story: Desert Thorn, Desert Rose by heyfarooq

Dear Writer, please find below our objective review comment based on five key elements of short stories:
Character: Very good character development using dialogues – very focused and tightly tied with the theme. Characters were truly restricted to story theme.
Setting: Very vivid and limited to one time frame – ideal for short story. Good approach.
Plot: Very good and interesting start. Equally good end is. Appropriate narrator is selected to present story with his point of view (POV). However, somehow connection of “thorn” and “rose” was felt missing.
Conflict: Conflict was averagely presented beginning and carried over with same intensity. It would have heightened bit more at end, just before resolution. Nonetheless resolution at climax was very well.
Theme: Theme can be easily related by many readers.
Overall very good story and equally good writing. Please note that size of story exceeds 4200 words. Typically short stories are limited to 3000 words. Plot could have been made even more interesting by connecting “rose” with “thorn.”
Having said the above, we strongly believe that story is an art and every art is invaluable – there is nothing good or bad as art is beyond boundaries of these adjectives. Therefore the creator is the best person to decide whether the creation meets her expectation. We like your story in total and our comments are just objective comparison with the patterns we observed in most liked short stories.
