Ode to the Moon

Thru my eucalyptus tree
The moon peeps furtively,
It makes me loony
And quixotic immediately.

I wait for her in darkness
Stealthily looking up,
She rises at last,
In full royalty.

Our clandestine meet
Silent in all obscurity
Frenzied and romantic
Trills a dulcet note in me.

I sing to her in suppressed whisper
Encouraged by her speechless adulation
My pleasure cup is full to the brim
No more sadness, no more gloom.

My moon, your flushing radiance
Looms bright in me
Majestic as you are,
Always reigns supremely.

Japan’s Sorrow

I saw the lightening

And nature’s fury,

Japan came to me

Crying miserably.

I heard the thunder

Shuddered in fear

Japan gave me

A tale of horror.

I felt the rain

Pouring on my den

Japan calmed me

Narrating her pain.

Nature, thy wrath and anger

Will scare me no longer

‘Cause I’ve seen Japan

Getting bolder and stronger.

Ode to Friendship

My friend, how you understood a misunderstood soul

How you sketched her in all prettiness,

Adorned her with lovely hues

She’d be proud of.

My friend, how you metamorphosed a pessimist soul

Lifted her from the dungeon of gloom

Sowed seeds of hope in her

And kernels for laughter.

Her present is now sunny

Tomorrow’ll never be bleak,

Your love, my friend,

Helped her love herself.

Her head is held high

She walks with fresh pride,

Your friendship she treasures

In her mind with supreme care.

Discovery of an Ordinary Self

Always longed to be unique

And noticed by all and sundry,

Followed all the rules

Written by great men of history.

Lost many joys and pleasures

Didn’t mind for that,

‘Cause I knew, I’d reach my goal

In my life ultimately.

My salad days gone

Reached my age ripe

Still hoped to be

An extraordinary one.

My days are numbered

My hopes too,

It pains to feel

That I’m an ordinary one.
