THE SECRET ROOM
It really broke Nakul’s heart that in spite of such hard work and regular efforts, they are not able to get a job in this world. Are they so incapable? Moreover, slowly with the passage of time, Nakul’s self confidence was also declining. One day Nakul was sitting in his house in front of his parents’s photo frame and thinking of their criticism by Mr. Anil Ray. But Nakul was trying to take the criticism in a positive manner. He always remembered what his mother used to tell him when she was alive-
DISCOURAGEMENT IS THE GREATEST ENCOURAGEMENT. UNLESS SOMEONE DISCOURAGES YOU, YOU WILL NOT BE MOTIVATED TO PROVE HIM WRONG. DO NOT GIVE UP DUE TO ANY REASON. THERE ARE MANY EXCUSES OF FAILURE BUT ONLY ONE REASON FOR SUCCESS—-HARDWORK. ALWAYS REMEMBER HARDWORK AND DEDICATION IS THE CODE OF OUR LIFE.
It seemed to Nakul that as if his mother was telling him all these stuff. Nakul could still visualize his mother’s smiling face and her lips moving in order to say Nakul all these words. Nakul just wanted to go towards her and rest his tired head upon his mother’s arms but Nakul with the passage of time had learnt to make out the difference between reality and illusions. Nakul really felt a bit bad at that moment and the absence of his parents from his life suddenly created a pain in his chest. His eyes also became wet but he controlled his emotions by consoling himself with the thought. Father and Mother are seeing me from somewhere. Only I can’t see them. They are always with me, only I can’t see them. So, why should I pain them by crying? I should be happy so that they could also be happy. After all a parent’s happiness lies hidden in their children’s happiness. He was occupied by all these thoughts and was playing with a plastic ball unconsciously. He was throwing the ball in the wall and catching it and thinking-
WHY CANNOT A SIMPLE B.COM DEGREE FROM AN ORDINARY COLLEGE IS NOT SUFFICIENT NOW A DAYS? IF PROFESSIONAL COURSES ARE SO IMPORTANT, THEN WHY AREN’T THE COLLEGES MAKING THOSE COURSES COMPULSORY? WHY? WHY??
While he was throwing the ball in the wall in an unconscious manner, suddenly, the ball hit his parents’ photo frame which was hanged on the wall and the photo frame fell down on the floor breaking its glass cover. Nakul, then quickly jumped out of the chair and went towards it to pick it up. Nakul quickly went there and picked up the photo frame and when he was about to hang the photo frame back into the wall, he saw something which drew Nakul’s attention. He saw a door or more specifically a gateway of deep brown color at the back of the photo frame on the wall.
The gateway was sealed but it was not locked. It was not exactly a gateway. Rather it was like a lift door. There was no lock or key, but it was sealed. It was fully covered with debris of spider web with two dead spiders hanging dead over it’s own web. Nakul was astonished for a moment but after getting back into sense, he tried to open the door, but he was unsuccessful. He made several efforts but all his efforts were in vain. In spite of repeated efforts, when he failed to open the door, he then went and called Gopal with the expectation that he might know something about the gateway.
Gopal came and he was also astonished to see that there is a gateway like this at their own house without their own knowledge. Gopal also did not have any idea as to where from this gateway suddenly appeared. Both of them were a bit surprised and were in absolute pandemonium.
Gopal then told Nakul, “But Nakul, I recollect one thing.”
Nakul asked him astonishingly, “What is that ?”
Gopal replied, “It was when you were only 4 years old. You went out with your mother for a round in the nearby park.”
As soon as Gopal said that Nakul felt as if he could properly visualize the scene of his mother holding Nakul’s hands and they were going somewhere with smiling faces. But Nakul did not say a word except——“And”.
Gopal continued, “At that time, your father was in this house reading a book. It was a Sunday and therefore I thought to clean the house. I was cleaning the house and when I was about to remove this photo frame in order to clear the walls, then suddenly your father came running from the other room and stopped me to remove the photo frame. He said-Never, ever try to remove this photo frame. He did not tell me the reason at that point of time but, now I realize the reason. This secret gateway might be the reason.”
Nakul then asked him surprisingly, “Are you trying to say that my father created this gateway?”
Gopal then answered him, “I do not know that whether your father have made this gateway type of thing in this house or it was before when your father took the house in rent, but, I am absolutely sure of the fact that he was aware of the presence of this gateway. Otherwise, why on that day, he would have stopped me like this?” Gopal continued, “It is also evident that he did not want me to know about the presence of this gateway in this house. But why?”
There was a halt of pin drop silence among them. After that Gopal breaking the silence continued mysteriously,
“But, what could be there inside the gateway?”
Both of them did not have an answer to this apparently simple looking question. Nakul for a moment thought that there might be huge amount of treasures and jewels inside it as he has learned in some story books of his childhood days but then he thought that he has now grown up and now he has to make difference between books and reality. Gopal, on the other hand, cleared the debris over the gateway-the spider web and the two dead spiders. As soon as the gateway was cleared, Nakul saw something which drew Nakul’s attention. Over the brown color gateway, something was written in light black color. Nakul came a bit closer to read whatever was written. It was written
“WHENEVER IN LIFE YOU SEE THAT YOUR PATH IS BLOCKED HAVE FAITH IN GOD, REMEMBER HIS NAME, SAY HIS NAME LOUDLY AND HE WILL SHOW YOU PATH.”
Below it, it was written ——–
WORDS IN HEART ARE USELESS, UNLESS THEY ARE SPOKEN LOUDLY.
Below it, it was written, “OM NAMA SHIVAY.” Nakul also said in an unconscious manner, “OM NAMA SHIVAY.” As soon as he uttered the words, suddenly the gateway opened. Nakul was astonished and to some extent shocked. Actually the code to open the gate is Nakul’s voice. The gateway was programmed by Nakul’s father in such a manner that only Nakul’s voice can open the gateway and no one else. As soon as the gateway was opened, Nakul saw that it was very dark on the other side and deep indeed.
Nakul then heard something-a kind of sound-as if something is coming towards him with a very high velocity. But, what is it? He could not see anything in the dark. But the sound of something heavy approaching to him was becoming clearer and louder with every passage of second. Suddenly the sound stopped and something came and stopped right in front of Nakul and Gopal on the other side of the gateway. It was a lift. The lift came and stopped in front of the gate. Nakul and Gopal did not understand anything what was going on.
Nakul with a mixed feeling of excitement and fear entered the lift gate with shaking legs and as soon as Gopal was about to enter the lift’s gate, the lift’s door i.e. the gateway was closed. Nakul got very much scared at that point of time as he was alone in the lift and nothing could be heard except the sound of his own heartbeat which was beating quite faster than usual under such circumstances. The lift’s door was programmed in such a manner, that only one person can enter the lift’s door, after Nakul’s voice is heard. So Nakul was alone in the lift.
The lift was really strange from the normal lifts. It did not have any buttons which the other lifts has-neither to open the lift’s door nor to go to a particular floor. It was just like an empty box from inside. Nakul got very much scared at that point of time as he thought that he might have got trapped inside it-forever and he has no idea as to how he would come out of the lift. Nakul tried to open the lift’s door in a variety of ways but suddenly he felt a jerking in the lift. He felt as if the lift was going down and he was correct. The lift was going down with a very high velocity and Nakul’s heart started beating more rapidly and frequently.
The lift was going down with such a high velocity that Nakul felt that he has lost his body weight by approximately 15 kilograms. After 7 to 8 minutes, the lift stopped and the gate of the lift opened. The place where it stopped could be very well understood that it was underground but it was cold, dark, quiet and obviously scary. As soon as he stepped out of the lift and placed his feet on the ground outside the lift, suddenly the place lightened up. It was light everywhere. It was an underground room. The room was some kind of an underground reading room. There were books, shelves, files, folders and a computer. Nakul was still nervous and his nervousness cannot be blamed under any circumstances. He could not understand anything.
The shelves were named, “SOLVED”, “UNSOLVED”, “SOLVED BUT YET TO BE PROVED”.
Nakul then without waiting there for a single moment of time quickly stepped inside the lift and as soon as he stepped inside the lift, the place again darkened up and the door of the lift closed and the lift again started moving upwards. After 7 to 8 minutes, the lift again again stopped at the place from where the lift started- at the back of the photo frame. The door as well as the gateway opened and Nakul quickly stepped out of the lift and felt a sign of relief and took three or four very deep breathes. He was still sweating and shaking due to fear and nervousness.
In the mean time, Gopal has done several efforts to open the gate but he has failed. Gopal after seeing him asked him whatever happened to him and whether he is fine or not. Nakul told him everything but as he was very nervous, he at first took an entire bottle of water from the table and finished it. He was still sweating due to fear. Gopal suggested to tell it to the local police station. But Nakul avoided the suggestion and told that having a secret room in one’s house is not much a crime and there is no need to get into the complexities of police.
Moreover, Nakul actually feared that if the police comes to know that there is a secret room like this in their house, then they might have to leave this house. So, if they leaves this house, where will they go and leave??? So Nakul decided not to tell it to the local police station. But at that time, Nakul did not know that his decision will change his life forever. But he thought to himself that he should share this stuff with his two best friends———- Ellias and Barsha. Nakul then drinking another glass of water from the water jug, he made a call to Ellias and Barsha and asked them to come to their house. He did not say anything over the telephone to them about the Secret Room to them.
